Jackson memorabilia to go on sale
Michael Jackson memorabilia, which includes handwritten lyrics and a fedora he once wore, is being auctioned off in Las Vegas next month. The collection, made up of about 2,000 items, spans the career of Jackson and his family from the mid-1960s through to the early 1990s. However, a spokesman for the star, told Associated Press he was considering legal action to stop the auction. Raymone K Bain claims his client is "extremely upset" about the sale. The collection is currently on display at New York's Guernsey's auction house. A price tag has not been put on any of the items, although Guernsey's president, Arlan Ettinger expects some of the pieces will generate a lot of interest. "Buyers will be of every description, from the most dedicated fans to the corporate buyer who sees this as interesting material to display," he said. The collection made news in 2004 when some of the items, including Jackson's underwear, were turned over to investigators as evidence in a child molestation case. Jackson was acquitted in California in 2005, after being accused of sexually abusing a 13-year-old. The trial was sparked after British journalist Martin Bashir made a documentary in which Jackson admitted sharing his bed with children. Fans can also bid for the items on eBay at the time of the live auction. The sale will take place at in Las Vegas on 30-31 May.
Anna Nicole doctor investigated
A psychiatrist who is said to have prescribed drugs to the late Playboy model Anna Nicole Smith is being investigated, a US official has said. A spokeswoman for the California medical board confirmed Dr. Khristine Eroshevich was the subject of a probe but gave no further details. Documents from the medical examiner show Dr. Eroshevich prescribed 11 drugs found in the room where Ms Smith died. Officials have confirmed she died of an accidental overdose of sleeping pills. Last month Broward County Medical Examiner Joshua Perper said the 39-year-old former Playboy centrefold had been taking a variety of sleeping pills, anti-depressants and anti-anxiety drugs. "I can only tell you that she [Eroshevich] is being investigated in connection with the Anna Nicole Smith matter," medical board spokeswoman Candis Cohen said. There was no immediate comment from the Los Angeles based psychiatrist. Ms. Smith's death, on 8 February, triggered legal battles in the US and the Bahamas over control of her body and the paternity of her baby, who could inherit millions of dollars.

Stones star denies snorting ashes
Keith Richards is known as a hellraiser. Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards has denied that he snorted the ashes of his late father during a drugs binge. The story surfaced in the NME, where Richards said in an interview: "He was cremated and I couldn't resist grinding him up with a little bit of blow." Richards' father, Bert, died at the age of 84 in 2002. Sixty-three-year-old Richards also told NME of his disdain for modern bands, calling Arctic Monkeys, The Libertines and Bloc Party "a load of crap". He said in the interview that his father's ashes "went down pretty well". Jane Rose, Richards' manager, later told MTV News the remarks were made "in jest", and she could not believe they had been taken seriously. Now Richards has issued a statement, which says the story was "lost in translation". "I wouldn't take cocaine at this point in my life unless I wished to commit suicide," he said. "The truth of the matter is that I planted a sturdy English Oak. I took the lid off the box of ashes and he [Richards' father] is now growing oak trees and would love me for it!"
The Stones' Bigger Bang World Tour started in 2005
But NME interviewer Mark Beaumont is convinced that Richards was not joking when speaking to him about the alleged incident. "He did seem to be quite honest about it. There were too many details for him to be making it up," he told BBC Radio 4's Today program. Mr. Beaumont added: "In Keith Richards' world that is probably doing his dad a fair bit of honor." 'Cut open' :Richards also revealed more
details of the accident which left him facing brain surgery last year
in Fiji, when it was widely reported he had fallen out of a tree,
forcing dates on the Rolling Stones tour to be cancelled. "I wasn't
climbing a tree," he said, "I was sitting on a shrub. I was sitting on
that shrub again today, but I happened to fall off it the wrong way
that day." He added: "I've been trepanned. That's quite an interesting
experience, especially for my brain surgeon, who saw my thoughts
flying around in my brain. I've got pictures of it, mate. They cut my
head, brain, skull open, went in and pulled out the crap, and put some
of it back again." The Rolling Stones are currently in the middle of
their A Bigger Bang tour, which returns to the UK in June. They have
already played to more than a million people, selling tickets worth
£76m.

Houston wins custody of daughter
Whitney Houston has been given custody of the teenage daughter she shares with estranged husband Bobby Brown, as their 14-year marriage comes to an end. The singer, 43, told a Californian court that Brown was "unreliable" and their daughter could not depend on him. A lawyer for Bobby Brown, 38, said he would appeal the judge's decision. The pair's tempestuous marriage was marred by prison sentences for Brown and stints in drug rehabilitation clinics for Houston. 'Irreconcilable differences' Brown was briefly jailed in February over $19,000 (£9,630) in unpaid child support payment for two of his children from a previous relationship. He was sentenced to 30 days jail time, but released after a few days when the money was paid to their mother. Houston and Brown wed in 1992 when she was at the height of her fame, with a string of hit records and a starring role opposite Kevin Costner in The Bodyguard. She filed for divorce last October citing irreconcilable differences. Superior Court Judge Franz E Miller ruled that Houston and Brown's marriage would officially end on 24 April. $VALUE OF SINGERS AND DIVAS ON THE MARKET Carol Lexter, Germaine Poitiers and Shoshanna Rosentein, the backbone of the World Who's Who in Jazz, Cabaret, Music and Entertainment are almost done with their study on how much singers and divas are worth today on the market. In other words, how valuable are they in the eye of venues' owners and shows/tours organizers. The study will be published in Volume IV of the World Who's Who. Insiders foresee troubles! Not exactly, but controversy for sure. Lexter said: "The study is solid and very revealing. We were amazed by how little big names in entertainment and music earn when they perform at Sundays' brunches...Here we have a very well known jazz singer who gets only $100 per session! Ridiculous and alarming! Other gigs bring no more than $400 per performance, and I am taking about big names in the business." Germaine Poitiers said that "unless they sell lots of copies of their CDs, jazz and cabaret singers in New York and California and the rest of the country will not make enough to stay in business. Few gigs here and there don't pay the bills." Rosenstein said that without promotion and constant articles and reviews, CDs will be forgotten or...given away as gifts to friends and family members.
